We will be instating a business version of the monthly ‘cuppa with a copper’ that takes place at St Lukes Church. ‘Tea with a Trader’ sessions will address the three main issues our high street has: anti social behaviour, shoplifting and street drinking. This is an opportunity for you to come and speak to your Neighbourhoods officers about issues you may have within your area or simply come and have a cuppa to meet your local officers.
PCs will organise a ‘shoplifting workshop’ to give shopkeepers advice, intelligence and strategies. The sessions can be based in your businesses if you are happy to host.
It’s important that businesses continue to report ALL crimes via 101 (doesn’t have to be at the time of the crime, can be later when you have time or feel safe.) When you report via 101, it is logged on the police system. The officers check every 24 hours and if a spike is registered, more resources are allocated.
We’ll be using the licensing team to target the shops that continue to sell cheap strong alcohol in single cans in a bid to tackle street drinking.
