On the corner of Knights Hill and St Julian’s Farm Road in West Norwood (South East London), there’s a furniture shop that sells antique furniture, books and vinyl records.
The shop is part of the Emmaus Lambeth community, it supports itself by selling donated furniture and household items. and has been run by our staff member Sue for the last four years.
Sue is assisted by a companion in turn from the community who helps with arranging and pricing items and dealing with customers.
The shop is part of an arcade of three up market shops dealing with second hand quality furniture and it should be on any antique furniture collectors list. One shop has recently been refurbished to be a showcase gallery of artwork for the Roseberys auction house next door.
Sue is happy with her work and has commented: ” You have to have a sense of humour to work here! We have many loyal customers. We have quirky items and there is a spectrum of furniture from retro to modern. Never mind the width feel the quality and chipboard to oak!”
You may ask what is in the name “Lofty”? There was a need to identify the the shop from other Emmaus Lambeth shops and as the shop previously dealt with loft conversions the name was obvious.
Come and visit our shop to find a bargain!
