Lost your mojo during lockdown? Fear not, new street food inspired Mojo Takeawayis opening this April to help you find it – through fresh and homemade chargrilled chicken, sourdough pizzas (vegan/vegetarian options), mezze, hot dogs, vegan dogs, and shawarma style rotisserie kebabs.
The key to feeling good is all about the nutrition you put inside you, and the brains behind Mojo Takeaway is chef Nigel ‘Nige’ Tunnicliff, the culinary magician of Blistering BBQs notoriety with two decades of providing lip-smacking spreads for high-end clients like Sky and JP Morgan through to fuelling revellers at Glastonbury festival. They have also collaborated with celeb TV chefs The Hairy Bikers on their Cornbury Music Festival in 2018/19, feeding over one thousand happy customers three course lunches and dinners all cooked from wood fired ovens and charcoal barbecues.
Nige knows what dishes will put a smile on your face through a flavoursome menu of homemade re-spun classics made from fresh ingredients.
“We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel” says Nigel. “We are passionate about producing good quality food that people will enjoy and come back for more. I’ve always had a love for fast food, and street food has exploded in popularity over the last few years. With Mojo Takeaway, I want people to say ‘wow!’, which is achieved through serving food that has been made with love. It’s hugely rewarding”.
The menu boasts numerous stars of the show all competing for the limelight. Hustling for the number one spot is the chargrilled chicken responsibly sourced from British farms which has been brined overnight for moist texture. Then there’s the sourdough pizza with a range of Italian-inspired authentic ingredients and the deli-styled mezze, salsas and sauces which will also be muscling in for an award, as well the rotisserie roasted fresh shoulders of lamb and loins of pork. Nothing is processed. And nothing is squeezed out of bottles.
Another exciting feature is the unique Dutch-inspired hot vending machines serving slices of pizza, delicious fried snacks and breakfast rolls. Customers can cash/swipe-and-grab as they’re walking past during opening hours.
All dishes are made from scratch with love in the Mojo Takeaway kitchen, executed to specially curated background playlists of uplifting soul, electro, Latin and funk which will be made available to customers through their Spotify account. What’s not to love about food and music? It’s all about finding and celebrating pleasure.
Nige was causing ‘wows’ way before ‘street food’ was even a term. He has spent years travelling the world, from Sydney to Asia, where he explored the joys of fusing food and culture, where he discovered “brilliant and delicious food”.
Some of you might already be familiar with Nige’s tasty morsels. If you’re an East Dulwich regular you might well have seen him dishing out chicken, salads, roast spuds and veg from out a back of a van on Lordship Lane, outside the Franklins restaurant, every weekend.
For Nige and his team, community is at the heart of food, which he is bringing with him as the heartbeat of this new venture. Good food, positive vibes, good people and great music – celebrate the simple joys of life through the food-loving delight that is Mojo Takeaway.
