Following its refurbishment, as well as being a theatre, the space has been transformed into a community asset available for many uses, including fitness classes, baby groups, drama courses for both adults and children, and holiday clubs for school children.
The theatre produces about 20 shows a year, (including their legendary Family Christmas Show) and provides many opportunities for local residents to get involved, as much or as little as they want, behind the scenes as well as on stage. Whether it’s operating the lights, running the bar or front of house roles, there are many roles to choose from.
South London Theatre is housed in an historic building, formerly the original fire station of West Norwood, which is a local landmark in its own right. There are several rooms available for hire, suited to activities such as toddler groups, rehearsals and meetings. The Library is a cosy room dedicated to counsellors, which also has some desk space.
The theatre has a huge wardrobe of costumes available for hire – the catalogue is available to browse online.
Westwood Health also have a treatment room on-site providing osteopathy treatments for the local community.
Reboot Fitness run Boxercise and personal training sessions from a studio on the premises, with small group sessions and 1 on 1 coaching available, plus 30 minute sessions which can fit into a lunch hour.
