Aug 11, 2022 10:00 am
Do you have a passion for ensuring people with disabilities live fulfilled lives? Do you want to help lead a community that really tries to value people for who they are and what they can do?
L’Arche London is more than just a service provider, we’re a diverse, inclusive Community of nearly 100 people, with and without learning disabilities who live, work and celebrate together. We provide registered care and supported housing as well as specialist day services. Our aim is to provide a place of belonging, to support people with learning disabilities live independent yet connected lives.
We’re looking for a dynamic and highly organised coordinator to join our team to help us spread the word about our Community and the opportunities we have for people to get involved, both paid and voluntary.
Each year we recruit and welcome up to 40 new people to our Community as L’Arche Support Assistants – to support our Community members with learning disabilities. Some Assistants live alongside those with learning disabilities, others live locally and come to work in the Community each day.
We also offer a broad range of volunteering opportunities – from befriending to DIY, from helping in our craft workshop to office admin – enabling a wide range of people from across London to be part of our Community.
People join L’Arche for so many different reasons and we need someone who is going to help nurture our assistants and volunteers throughout their journey here in L’Arche London, as well as share our core values and commitment to being a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
We’re part of an international federation of L’Arche Communities all around the world supporting people with learning disabilities, so some assistants come from overseas. Whilst our roots and ethos are Christian, we welcome people of all faiths and none.
The Recruitment and Volunteers Coordinator is a new role for someone self-motivated, creative, and with a willingness to think outside of the box. It would be great if you were confident with social media and enjoyed writing copy. Are you the focused, enthusiastic person who can help us get the word out about our unique Community to our local area, the UK and the world? If so, get in touch.
