Please see below for some information on the latest government grants available for businesses via Lambeth.

These cover when London was in Tier 2 (October) & Tier 3 (December) as well as when England was in National Lockdown (November) as well as Tier 4 and National Lockdown (3).

National Lockdown and Tier 4 Grants

Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) for periods of National Restrictions (2nd and 3rd national lockdowns), Tier 4 and one-off top up payment (Closed Business Lockdown Payment)

Please be aware that this funding is for businesses who have been forced to close in the national lockdown (2) in November, Tier 4 and national lockdown (3) from 05 January 2021.

Any business who has already received their grant payment for the national lockdown (2) in November will not need to reapply. Funds will be sent to business bank accounts which received the national lockdown (2) grant and an email will be sent to those receiving grants to advise on how much you will receive, and how this relates to the different Tiers and Government grant schemes.

If you were forced to close in the national lockdown (2) in November but have not yet applied for this grant, please apply via the Lambeth website.

Eligible businesses include:

  • non-essential retail (clothing stores, homeware stores, tobacco/vape shops; electronic goods and mobile phone shops; charity shops; photography studios; antique stores; markets; car and other vehicle showrooms; car washes; auction houses)
  • hospitality (restaurants; pubs; bars; cafes; social clubs; members’ clubs)
  • accommodation (hotels; hostels; B&Bs)
  • personal care facilities (hair and beauty salons; tattoo parlours; spas; massage centres; tanning salons)
  • entertainment and tourism (nightclubs; bingo halls; casinos; betting shops; indoor games; cinemas; theatres; museums)
  • leisure (gyms; golf courses; sports courts; dance studios)

Businesses that can continue operating because they can operate effectively remotely (e.g. accountants, solicitors) are not eligible, nor are businesses that are not legally required to close but have chosen to close.

Grant funding provided will include funding for the periods London has been in national lockdown (2) in November, Tier 4 and national lockdown (3) from 05 January 2021.

Retail, Hospitality and Leisure businesses will also receive a one-off top up payment called the Closed Business Lockdown Payment.

All awards are based upon the Business rates rateable value of occupied premises and where possible will be paid as one lump sum payment.

For national lockdown (2) in November:

  • Businesses occupying premises with a rateable value of £15,000 or under will receive a £1,334 grant per 28-day period.
  • Businesses occupying premises with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 will receive a £2,000 grant per 28-day period.
  • Businesses occupying premises with a rateable value of £51,000 or above will receive a £3,000 grant per 28-day period.

  • Businesses occupying premises with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 will receive a £3,000 grant per 42-day qualifying period.

  • Businesses occupying premises with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on the date of the commencement of national lockdown (3) will receive a £6,000 payment
  • Businesses occupying premises with a rateable value of £51,000 or above on the date of the commencement of national lockdown (3) will receive a £9,000 payment

Local Restrictions Support Grants Tiers 2 & 3 – and ‘Christmas Support Payment for Wet-Led Pubs’

Applications are now open for Government grants for the periods of time Lambeth was under Tier 2 and Tier 3 restrictions. This includes:
· Grants for businesses in the Hospitality, Leisure and Accommodation sectors that have remained open but severely impacted by Tier 2 and 3 restrictions.
· Grants for businesses in the Hospitality, Leisure and Accommodation sectors that have been forced to close under Tier 2 and 3 restrictions
· Additional ‘Christmas Support Payment for Wet-Led Pubs’

More information on the eligibility criteria and grant amounts is provided on the application form, which is available now at www.lambeth.gov.uk/covid19businesses

Lambeth Council has paid out in excess of £2million to businesses that were forced to close during the National Lockdown period (05 November – 02 December). Whilst 71% of businesses we expect to be eligible have received support, there are still some businesses who have not applied. Applications for these grants remain open for businesses who were forced to close by the Government, with grants of either £1,334, £2,000 or £3,000 available, depending on the rateable value of premises. The application form for these grants is available at www.lambeth.gov.uk.covid19businesses.
