Local mural painter Lionel Stanhope has been commissioned to paint a large mural on the industrial estate as part of the ‘Norwood Works‘ rebranding exercise funded by Lambeth in 2019.
Station to Station is positioning West Norwood and Tulse Hill as THE destination for affordable workspace in Lambeth. Giving the industrial estate the identity of ‘Norwood Works’ (previously it was just known as the ‘KIBA’ or the industrial estate) will help in our efforts to get the place better known outside the immediate area.
There will also be ‘Norwood Works’ branded oil drum planters in small clusters on the estate. These will be planted up as part of another project we have external funding for; Plants for Pavements. This has been provided by the Grow Back Greener fund and is a collaboration with Station to Station member the South London Botanical Institute in Tulse Hill. All planting will be maintained by another collaboration between Station to Station and Lambeth.
Work has begun on Conduit Mead’s building in Knight’s Hall Square, with the plan for more interventions in the coming months – watch this space!
