We are excited to announce the launch of ‘ChooSE27’, our new digital platform for everything local. This is a free app available for you to download onto your smartphone.Â
The ChooSE27 app is now live, download from the link directly above!
We are joining a growing community of neighbourhoods who are making themselves future proof with their own town apps; a free download that gives users access to local news, events and offers, while providing businesses with unique marketing tools and local insights.
General FAQs:
What is ChooSE27?
ChooSE27 is a Digital Town Hub which helps local organisations and businesses to communicate more effectively with residents and visitors. Digital Town Hubs are owned and managed by local people. They provide a community-powered alternative to social media, delivery and large ecommerce platforms.
How does it work?
ChooSE27 has been installed specifically for West Norwood and Tulse Hill. Residents download the ChooSE27 app for Apple and Android smartphones for free and sign-up. Meanwhile, businesses and local organisations receive an email invite from ChooSE27 to register for access to their business dashboard. The dashboard allows businesses to add content to the app and participate in the hub. Business users can also login to the app to receive additional business-related content.
How is it funded?
ChooSE27 is funded by Station To Station BID. Local businesses and organisations that are BID members receive access to their business dashboard for free. Local businesses and organisations that are not BID members are required to pay £4.99 per month after a 1 month free trial. Residents and visitors use the app for free.
What are the benefits?
Digital Town Hubs push personalised content to residents to keep them informed about everything going on in their town. They aggregate data from multiple sources to monitor the health of the town centre and identify trends. Hubs provide a way for residents to easily provide feedback so action can be taken on local issues. Finally, they keep marketing and sales costs low for businesses, keeping more money within the local area to benefit the local economy.
Is it possible to find digital town hubs elsewhere?
Yes. Digital Town Hubs can be found elsewhere in England and Scotland. It’s best to check the Loqiva website for the latest information.
App FAQs:
Is the ChooSE27 smartphone app free to use?
Yes, ChooSE27 is completely free. All you pay for is your bandwidth.
What data do you collect?
ChooSE27 needs to collect personal data to make local recommendations to you. When you sign up, you are asked for your name, age, title and postcode together with some information about your interests. From time-to-time, the app checks your location. You can opt to turn location monitoring off in the normal way on your phone but this will limit some of the features of ChooSE27.
Who owns the data?
The data is owned by Station To Station BID on behalf of the local community. Loqiva, the company that provides the digital town hub, processes the data on behalf of Station To Station BID.
How do you protect my privacy?
The platform has been developed around the principle of using data ethically. All data is stored securely in the UK. The data that’s displayed on ChooSE27 is aggregated and anonymised. We encrypt data in transit, and all processes undertaken by the platform to serve you personalised content are done so privately and autonomously.Â
Can I delete my account?
We hope you won’t, but of course if you feel the need to delete your account, you can do so on the app at any time. When you delete your account then all the data personally identifiable to you is instantly erased from ChooSE27.
Will the smartphone apps be updated?
Yes, we will be regularly updating the smartphone app with fixes and new features. Please download the latest version to enjoy the best experience.
