Green & Pleasant
We have collaborated with the South London Botanical Institute (also a Station to Station member) to bring the ‘Plants for Pavements’ project to our high street.
We worked with the council using some of their community funding from local developments to install three planters at Station Rise, improving air quality and creating a more welcoming environment (also stopping cars who used to drive over the previous plants at floor level!).
Norwood Works branded oil drum with bee friendly planting have gone up around the industrial estate as part of two externally funded projects, Norwood Works and Plants for Pavements.
As well as maintaining the planting we already have established, we support local residents and community organisations to facilitate further environmentally friendly greening in the area (Hoopla Gardens along Norwood Road and the Bzz Garage by the bus garage).
We will continue to support and publicise the efforts made by Lambeth who, with National Lotto funding, will improve access to West Norwood Cemetery so that residents and Parkhall Business Centre users can walk to the high street in minutes through a pleasant green space.
