Station to Station contracted retail consultant Wendy Jackson from Scope for More to do a piece of work along Norwood High Street. This particular street was chosen because it is due to be ‘de-designated’ as a high street from the railway bridge up and will no longer be part of West Norwood’s town centre (which includes Norwood Road, Knights Hill and the section of Norwood High Street to the railway bridge). This could potentially make it vulnerable as even more vacant shop premises could be turned into flats.
Scope for More’s work culminated in an Art Trail along Norwood High Street in March 2022, as part of the Spring Festival. This saw local artists and pupils from the Norwood School hang their artworks in some of the local shops that Wendy had been working with, which encouraged new customers to visit these businesses.
Wendy has many years experience in this field and has worked with over 300 retailers, including locally in Streatham, Herne Hill and Brixton – and is known for her down to earth, no nonsense approach! She assists business owners to see their offer through the eyes of customers and supports them to discover their untapped potential and make changes that improve their offer to those in the area who might previously have walked by.
Here are just some examples of her work:
